Good morning. Today's newsletter could be my best yet. I mean, it's not. But one or two of you might think so, in which case, in a way, it is! But objectively, no. It's not bad, though, if I do say so myself. There's some good stuff in it. For example, there's a link to a beautiful photo essay about a stretch of coastli- but I'm getting ahead of myself. Read on and see for yourself:

The Eerie, Lunar Nothingness of Namibia’s Skeleton Coast

The Eerie, Lunar Nothingness of Namibia’s Skeleton Coast

Beautiful photo essay about a stretch of coastline in southwest Africa that has been reclaimed by nature. (Eventually some dude will probably decide this is a good place for his megasculpture.)

Item 2: a list

Standard American bed sizes, ranked:

  1. King
  2. Queen
  3. California King
  4. Twin
  5. Full
  6. Twin Extra Long

Item 3: a media recommendation

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe

The Stanley Parable is an experimental narrative-driven first person game. It is an exploration of choice, freedom, storytelling and reality, all examined through the lens of what it means to play a video game.

I know nobody reading this will bother going to the website for, let alone paying for, let alone playing, this game. But I strongly recommend it! It's my favorite kind of thing - a mind-bogglingly self-referential piece of media that calls into question its reason for existence. Also it's pretty easy and very funny.

Beyond that it's really better not to know anything going into it, so I won't say anything except that if you're at all interested after reading all that (if you read all that) I think you will enjoy this game quite a bit. It's on all the relevant platforms. Give it a whirl.

Item 4: a photograph

The colors of the salt pans in Walvis Bay, Namibia, arise from the presence of Dunaliella salina, a micro algae. (photo by Genna Martin)

See ya!

Thanks for reading. I am on vacation next week so should have plenty of time to put together a great issue for you. Or maybe I'll forget about it until Thursday night and throw something together at the last minute. Stay tuned.
