Hello. I'm on vacation this week so no big preamble. Here are some things you may want to check out:

Revisiting ‘The Visitors’: An oral history of Ragnar Kjartansson’s multimedia masterpiece

Revisiting ‘The Visitors’: An oral history of Ragnar Kjartansson’s multimedia masterpiece

"Ragnar Kjartansson worried that his video installation might be sentimental rubbish. It’s one of the most celebrated artworks of our time."

I dropped in for 10 or 15 minutes of this at SFMOMA but after reading more about it I wish I had sat down for the full performance.

Item 2: a list

Mission Impossible movies, ranked:

  1. Mission: Impossible [6] - Fallout
  2. Mission: Impossible [4] - Ghost Protocol
  3. Mission: Impossible [5] - Rogue Nation
  4. Mission: Impossible
  5. Mission: Impossible III
  6. Mission: Impossible 2

Item 3: a media recommendation

The Most Joyous 99 Seconds of Television This Year Happened on Starstruck

The Most Joyous 99 Seconds of Television This Year Happened on Starstruck

Unfortunately you're really going to have to watch the first two episodes of Starstruck before you click on this link, because the contents of the Vulture piece constitute a bit of a spoiler. But fortunately the show, which is available in full on HBO Max, is very good (although it made me, a geriatric millennial, feel very old and uncool). It's about a young woman who hooks up with a young man and then it turns out the young man is a famous celebrity. As you can probably imagine, hi-jinx ensue.

Anyway, after you've watched the show you can check out this "GIF breakdown of the pure joy that is the opening scene in the second episode of ‘Starstruck’". I quite enjoyed it.

Item 4: a photograph

"Somehow I'm only now finding out about the annual World Nomad Games" - @JacquesLou1s on Twitter (but I'm pretty sure someone else took the photo)

Thanks for reading - keep an eye out for next week's issue, if you choose to accept it.
