Serra’s “1-1-1-1” (1969). 2024 Richard Serra/Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York

Big week here at Wolmania - this is the last issue of the financial quarter! Try to contain your excitement as best you can.

Richard Serra, "Sequence". Bad photo by me (2017)

We like Big Art around here and this week Big Art lost one of its leading practitioners, Richard Serra. Serra was a doyen of gigantic metal sculpture (see, e.g., Sequence (2006), which anchored San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art for years) and apparently spent much of his artistic life pissing off humorless people with no imagination. Wolmania mourns his passing.

Caparison

The chihuahua shivered against the cold, caparisoned in a tiny sweater and those goofy little paw socks that make dogs totter around like toy soldier nutcrackers.

Item 5: a photograph

Part of the the Earth is pictured with blue seas and
white clouds. On the upper left is a deep space dark background.
On the Earth a large dark spot is apparent. Please see the explanation for more detailed information.
