The Wolmania promise: no mentions of Effective Altruism (other than this one)
Fog enveloping some city or another (probably San Francisco)

Good morning. Here's the newsletter:

There used to be a very special website called "Barely Edible" (which still appears to have a more-or-less dormant Facebook page). This website was about eating truly disgusting foods sourced from Britain's least hygienic grocers. Stuff like this:

goblin branded "Meat & Gravy Pudding"
Dig in!

Anyway, the site is no longer on the internet, presumably because its hosting provider concluded that providing access to this kind of content may violate the Geneva Convention. To be honest, I suspect if it were still available it wouldn't hold up to my memory. So this week's link is to my memory of finding an old website funny.

Wholesome backup link: Merlin Mann's work-in-progress Wisdom Project.

Item 2: a list

Waldorf Salad ingredients, ranked:

  1. Apples (Pink Lady or Honey Crisp)
  2. Chicken
  3. Celery
  4. Mayonnaise
  5. Lettuce (little gem?)
  6. Sugar (in the “dressing”)
  7. Grapes
  8. Walnuts

Item 3: a media recommendation

Here's 1989’s 让我睡个好觉 (Let Me Sleep) - an incredible Talking Heads homage (with a smidgen of Men At Work) from Cui Jian, the "Father of Chinese Rock”:

Item 4: word of the week

Colophon

Item 5: a photograph

John Kraus: NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and the uncrewed Orion capsule lift off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida early this morning, with the capsule’s destination — the Moon — as a backdrop.

See ya!

Thanks for reading. See you next week for our post-Thanksgiving spectacular.
