I'm squeezing in one last newsletter in July, one of the Northern Hemisphere's warmest months, to finally address the elephant in the room: Christopher Nolan's filmography. And whatever else I can think of.
Item 1: a link
Marcin Wichary writes:
It’s hard to imagine it now, but during iPhone’s first year, no emoji were available at all. It took four years until 2011’s iOS 5 gave everyone an emoji keyboard.
But in between 2008 and 2011, there existed a peculiar interregnum where emoji were only available on Japanese iPhones.
Or were they?
I'm having trouble summarizing the story without just fully ripping off Wichary's blog post so just go read it please.
Item 2: a list

Item 3: a media recommendation
Jamelle Bouie – There are no white people on Middle-Earth
Item 4: word of the week
Farouche
He was a farouche child, always sulking in a corner. Which made it all the more surprising when he grew up and became an improvisational comic. But then it made it all the less surprising when his improvisational comedy career was an utter failure.

See ya!
Thank you for reading Wolmania. I hope you stay cool or, for my many readers south of the equator, warm. See you in a couple of weeks.
