Welcome back to Wolmania. This week we're all over the map - literally! Insofar as the first item is about the Bay Area of California, but also Southern California. And there's a picture of a map. Other than that, I guess the various items are associated with some other geographical locations, but not really more than usual. Okay, it's gonna be tough to match that intro, but we might as well give it a shot. Dig in.

Every dot is home to a sad story.

I learned a lot from this article in The Verge about how various companies are trying to make hydrogen fuel cells happen (I'm hopeful that one day we can eliminate our emissions from cargo shipping and industrial trucking). But sometimes learning is just not as satisfying as reading about how a bunch of people bought cars that run on hydrogen fuel cells and it really, really didn't work out. Click on that link and enjoy the multimedia schadenfreude experience.

Item 2: a list

Five "Unique" Flavors of Pie Generated By a Pretty Unimaginative Artificial Intelligence*, Ranked:

  1. Roasted Beet and Ginger Pie: Earthy roasted beets combined with zesty ginger and a touch of citrus. The vibrant color and unique flavor make this pie a standout.
  2. Bourbon-Brown Sugar Sweet Potato Pie: A rich, spiced sweet potato filling with a splash of bourbon and a hint of brown sugar. The bourbon adds depth to the flavor profile.
  3. Cardamom Pear and Almond Pie: Sweet, spiced pears combined with cardamom and a touch of almond extract. The almond crust or a streusel topping adds a delightful crunch.
  4. Mango-Lime Coconut Pie: A tropical twist with a creamy mango filling, zesty lime, and a hint of coconut. Top with toasted coconut flakes for added texture.
  5. Lavender Honey Peach Pie: Fragrant lavender paired with juicy peaches and a touch of honey. The lavender adds a subtle floral note that complements the sweetness of the peaches.

Item 3: a media recommendation

Item 4: word of the week

Lacuna

Of course I was heartbroken to have my home burglarized, but it's a huge relief that the miscreants didn't check the lacuna in my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I lost a lot that day, but I've still got that rock I found that looks like Michael Douglas.

Item 5: a photograph

Venice, the Pink Cloud - Paul Signac (1863-1935) Photo by me at a museum in Vienna, Austria

See ya!

Was that good? I can't tell anymore. In any case, thanks for reading it. See you soon.
