Good morning - today's Wolmania takes a few brief moments to draw your attention and appreciation to human creativity and innovation.

Dan Hollick is writing a book called Making Software, which starts with a meticulously illustrated chapter about how digital displays work. If you, like me, have always taken your phone screen for granted, it might be worth perusing this chapter, which starts with CRT screens and ends with micro LED technology. Neat stuff.

The Traveling Wilburys - Tweeter and the Monkey Man

Item 4: word of the week

Corybantic

My first impression of Professor Scanlon was of elbow pads and uncuffed corduroy, attacking the chalkboard with his stylus in a corybantic display of brilliance. My second impression was that I had walked into the wrong classroom and that was actually just a grad student on a corybantic array of recreational drugs.

Item 5: a photograph

Sony ERS-110 Entertainment Robot (1999)

See ya!

Well, how was that? Did you enjoy yourself? In any case, I'll be taking next week off so expect another issue on August 29 or so.
